How We Got Started ...
Frank and Adele Belfsky, the business owners, had an experience that really brought home the need for caring support service. Adele's mom, Earleen, was in a devastating car accident. Although Earleen survived the accident, she sustained C-2 fractures and required extensive medical and non-medical care. After a few days in intensive care at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, Earleen was moved to a regular room where her progress was monitored and a "halo" device was installed into her skull to immobilize the neck.
The staff at St. Joseph Hospital was wonderful, and within a week Earleen was transferred to Greenbriar Nursing Home to receive services from their excellent physical therapy department. Here, she received wonderful care and again made great progress.
Within a month, Earleen was in the warm and welcoming Mont Vernon Inn, an assisted living home. The folks at the Mont Vernon Inn were patient and kind, and they treated Earleen like a member of the family. There was only one problem: Earleen wanted to be home! No matter how good they were (and believe me, they were fabulous), Earleen wanted to be in her own bed at night and her own living room during the day.
Yet there was the very real need for 24 hour care (especially in the early recovery period) and Adele could not provide that for her mom while remaining a connected wife and mother at home! Living At Home SeniorCare could have filled that need! When Earleen was released from the Mont Vernon Inn, she transitioned to her home. Adele was in attendance 3 days a week at first, later 1-2 days for 3-4 hours each day. Frank and Adele had been praying about discerning a new job or business for Adele. Frank came up with the plan for Living At Home SeniorCare. Together they researched business start-up plans and chose to open a membership with "The Senior's Choice".

Living At Home SeniorCare was formed with a heart to care for the elderly and a conviction that helping "widows and orphans in their time of trouble is the essence of pure and undefiled religion."
Often, an elderly man whose wife has passed away seems much like an orphan; not used to taking care of the household chores that were part of her activities. He is blessed when we are able to step in and do some meal planning and preparation, and provide the "Woman's Touch" that has been missing from the home. Most of our clients are elderly women, widows, who need to know someone can take care of them, drive them to the doctor's office, help them with bathing and hygiene, and assist with other "activities of daily living." Many of the 300+ clients we have cared for in the past three years were discharged from rehabilitation after hip/knee replacement or cardiac events. They are often in considerable pain and depressed.
The "Good Book" has a lot to say about removing "burdens and oppression" from people. We are a source of strength and refreshment in the home; as we extend a helping hand those burdens and oppression lift. We find great satisfaction in this. |
Now entering our fifth year caring for seniors, Living at Home SeniorCare has provided services to more than 350 patient/clients in southern New Hampshire.
Living at Home SeniorCare is locally owned and operated.
