Alzheimer's Therapies
It is estimated that 5,000,000 Americans have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. In fact, folks 85 and older have a 50% of contracting Alzheimer's. Although there is no known cure for the disease at this time, there are promising therapies that can slow down, and in some cases reverse, the symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease. One such therapy is Ashby Memory Method or AMM. Living at Home Care SeniorCare is an exclusive Home Care provider of AMM in Southern New Hampshire.
AMM is a structured program of cognitive exercises that incorporates each person's unique life story in a profoundly personal and meaningful way. The goal of AMM is to stimulate and reinforce existing memories before they are lost to the progression of Alzheimer's.
How does AMM work?
With structured repeated practice of cognitively stimulating activities and interactions designed to tap into memories of personally relevant events experienced in each person's past, we stimulate recall of events and information and in the process improve and maintain cognitive functioning.
The Benefits Of AMM
Ashby Memory Method™ exercises help stimulate the brain, thereby contributing to an individual's ability:
To perform ADL's (activities of daily living) more independently
To remain connected and engaged for a longer period of time
To refresh confidence and social skills
AMM is most effective when treatment begins in the early stage of Alzheimer's Disease. It has also proven helpful to those recovering from a stroke.

Memories of Life
Do you have a loved one who has led an interesting life? Wouldn't it be great to "capture" the memories of this life for future generations to cherish?
Living at Home SeniorCare can help you or a loved one recall and chronicle those memories. The purpose of Memories of Life is to stimulate and refresh memories in danger of being lost through Alzheimer's Disease or the normal aging process, and to create a product that celebrates a life well lived.
A Memories of Life project has several components and can be quite flexible. The starting point involves gathering the person's life story through an interview process. Families members' contributions of memories and encouragement are key to a successful interview. The interview is conducted by a facilitator, and the information collected is written in biographical format.
Enhancements to the Memories of Life, such as photos of the family and of important lifetime events, can be incorporated to bring further life to the narrative. We recommend scanned photos that can be inserted alongside corresponding text. Family members may also elect to contribute words of appreciation to the Memories of Life. The final product is a beautifully bound book printed on high quality paper that will be an enduring family treasure.
Living at Home SeniorCare is locally owned and operated.
